Markiewicz and Morgan will likely compete with returning quarterback Rex Culpepper for a backup spot behind Tommy DeVito.

On Tuesday, 3-star Dillon Markiewicz became the second Syracuse quarterback commit to Syracuse for the class of 2020. Jacobian Morgan was the first when he revealed his verbal commitment to the Orange two days prior.

Markiewicz is listed as a 3-star pro-style quarterback on 247sports.com from McKinney, Texas, just north of Dallas. He’s the 280th ranked prospect in Texas per 247sports’ composite rankings which aggregates multiple ranking sites. Markiewicz chose the Orange over Boise State, Texas State and Stephen F. Austin, according to 247 Sports.

The 6-foot-4.5, 215-pound quarterback threw for 4,187 yards his senior year with 52 total touchdowns and six interceptions in 12 games, per his Hudl.com page.

Markiewicz’s McKinney North team went 10-2 last season, losing in the second round of the playoffs. In that final game, Markiewicz threw for 282 yards and two touchdowns but added three interceptions in a 58-28 loss, per MaxPreps.com.

Syracuse’s other quarterback commit, Morgan, is also a 3-star pro-style quarterback per 247sports. He was the 50th ranked Mississippi prospect for the class of 2020 on 247sports’ composite rankings. Morgan had offers from Jackson State and Austin Peay and also plays wide receiver.

Morgan recorded 2,487 yards his senior year to go along with 30 touchdowns, per his Hudl page. He declined to share his interceptions in his senior highlight video on Hudl, but MaxPreps listed seven.

Both join Tommy DeVito and Rex Culpepper SU’s quarterback depth chart. Clayton Welch, DeVito’s backup last season, is set to graduate this fall.
