Syracuse took a season-low seven shots against Clemson on Thursday.

Syracuse (7-2-2, 0-1-1 Atlantic Coast) registered a season-low seven shots in a 4-0 loss to No. 13 Clemson (8-2-0, 2-0-0) on Thursday.

The Tigers recorded 31 shots, nearly double the second most taken by an SU opponent this season. (Notre Dame took 16 shots on Sunday.)

Clemson’s attack started early and never let up, accounting for six shots in the first 15 minutes of the game. By the end of the first half, Clemson had recorded 16 shots but a valiant effort from SU goalie Courtney Brosnan had kept the score at 0-0. She finished the night with a season-high seven saves.

In the second half, Clemson continued to take shot after shot and finally break through, netting four goals and maintaining a perfect record in conference play. The Tigers finished the night with more shots on goal (11) than the Orange had total shots (seven).

Four different players scored for the Tigers with junior Shannon Horgan assisting on three of the four tallies. As for Syracuse, it could never get anything going. Penalties and sloppy play killed any chance of a rally against the vicious Clemson attack and saw SU notching only three shots on goal the whole night.

The Orange stays on the road looking to rebound against a surging Miami team on Sunday, Sept. 25.
